After David Beckham Brazilian forward Ronaldo seems to be the next big star out of Santiago Bernabeu as the January transfer window heads to a close in a lil less than 48 hours.
Ronaldo would be back in the city where he came from after the 2002 world cup. The San Siro stadium is no alien territory for Ronaldo who was once a Inter Milan player for five years, but now would be joining cross-town rivals AC Milan who share the same Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with each other.
Ronaldo has already cleared a medical with the Italian giants and talks are now supposed to be in a very advanced stage. According to the Milan Vice President only a million euros is what separates the two clubs from coming to an agreement over the three times FIFA would player of the year. Ronaldo still has more than a year left in his contract with the Spanish club but having fallen off with Coach Fabio Capello he made it clear that he would rather leave the club a request that Real president Ramon Calderon was too glad to accept if a suitable deal came their way.
Milan Coach Carlos Ancelotti is quite happy with the Brazilian’s decision to come to Milan than follow his Madrid team-mate David Beckham into MLS or Luis Figo to the middle-east. The Milan boss thinks that Ronaldo still has a plenty to offer and is still as motivated to play and shine at in the top flight soccer.
In all possibilities the deal is expected to be finalized by Tuesday evening and Milan are quite keen on having their man on the team-sheet for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia clash with Roma. But with negotiations still hanging on the issue of valuation that might look a lil unlikely… but nevertheless the deal might just go through even if it goes to the wire is what many believe, cos Ronaldo going to Milan seems to be the best possible solution to all parties – Real, Milan, Ronaldo and also if someone considers soccer fans and Ronaldo fans in particular.
