Looks like Christmas or for that matter Boxing Day hasn’t bought much cheer at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea squandered the golden opportunity to go top of the Premiership table although Manchester United might have had the chance to overhaul them later in the evening. Nevertheless it was two points dropped for Chelsea and a further two point advantage for league leaders Manchester United.

As the lunch time fixture at the Bridge kicked off a win would have put Chelsea top for at least a couple of hours and in case United faltered at home they might have had the opportunity to lead the table heading into the New Year. But it wasn’t to be as Chelsea twice squandered the lead and Christiano Ronaldo led the red devils to an emphatic 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic.

Chelsea boss Jose Morhino hasn’t been in this position of being a chaser since his arrival at the London club and his first time chase of a rejuvenated United side seems to be taking the breath out of him. So as for now its Man U all the way as Chelsea seems to be slipping up mid-way into the season.
