Alright guys… fasten your seat belts and get ready boys… cos this one is the biggie. English premier league would be full throttle this weekend as the top four teams clash in what could arguably be the make or break chance for the four teams on top of the Premier League. All four teams head in to the weekend well aware that a loss could serious dent or practically finish their title aspirations for this season. Chelsea travel to Anfield on Saturday with plenty other than football on the minds and league leaders Manchester United travel to Highbury on Sunday.

Chelsea v Liverpool as I said would be about so much more than… call it ego or call it pride… they’d be battles within the Chelsea camp and battles outside too. Andriy Shevchenko would be itching to get the string of poor performance behind him and show the world that he’s still Europe’s best and that he’s worth every penny of the 30 million pounds spent on him. But one still has to wait and see if Jose Mourinho actually gives him that chance as it’s still not clear if the Portuguese Boss is willing to take a gamble and field his woefully out of form striker who also has been in the midst of the storm between him and the Chelsea management.

That apart the match on the pitch its could be as crucial for the London side as a loss could seriously dent their premiership chances… giving United a huge nine point lead if they manage to win at Highbury. But then not just the points difference the loss could seriously dent their confidence and widen the rift in the club that’s already as wide as the grand canyon.

Meanwhile in London Manchester United and Arsenal would also have their task cut out as a loss for the Gunners in Arsene Wengers words would mean an end to their premiership this season whereas united who by then would have known the outcome of Chelsea’s match would either wanna further pull away at the top or keep the distance as before. So watch out for more news and gossip right here on the weekend’s premiership games cos it just can’t get better than this.

Its getting murkier by the day it appears like this will go right down to the wire but the sad fact is that this promises to get dirtier and dirtier not just damaging the wonderful culture that Chelsea has build over the past few years, since the arrival of Russian Oil Baron Roman Abramovich, but this could also cause long term damage to English Soccer in general cos now they potentially stand to lose one of the best minds in soccer today. The fact that Jose is the only soccer Coach to have honor of being immortalized in the wax of Madame Tussauds speaks volumes of his pedigree both as a great thinker and executioner of his plans on the pitch. There are now reports flying around in gossip magazines and tabloid columns that it is almost certain now that Jose Mourinho is out of Stamford Bridge at the end of this season and looks like Chelsea have also identified his replacement in Milan tactician Carlo Ancelotti.

The crux of the matter is sadly a totally personal issue which has been blown out of proposition and now it’s become a full blown saga of ego that could only end in one result – axing of Jose Mourinho. Pre-season signing of Michael Ballack and former AC Milan sharp-shooter Andriy Schevchenko were supposed to take Chelsea beyond the reach of any of their title contenders but sadly like so many times in soccer things don’t really go according to plans and the move severely back fired on the Blues. The multi-million stars haven’t just played below par they have also become liabilities in the sense that almost after six months into the season they seem to be shadows of the players they’ve known to be. Add to it the fact that other clubs have caught up with the champions has also taken off the invincibility sheen of the Londoners… a fact that has surely hurt their ego more than anything else.

Ballack has still been an easy and level headed contender for Mourinho but its Scheva who’s been the thorn in his flesh since day one. His rather indifferent form was first excused as he was still getting adjusted to English style. But as days turned weeks and weeks to months it looked like the one-time-best-feet in Europe had simply forgotten the art of slotting in home from six yards in the box. The straight thinking Mourinho was neither afraid of dropping his stars nor was he scared of criticizing them when they woefully under performed. Jose has never known to have any personally grudge against any player and never has he had any personal favorites… the man just knows one thing – Soccer… he picked players on performance on the pitch and hard work in training. From him the only thing mattered was winning and winning as a team… though a defeat never bothered him what did was his players playing below themselves.

Scheva once a darling at San Siro was now a outsider at the Bridge a fact that along with his own growing frustration became his own undoing. Further his proximity to Chelsea owner would have made him a tricky candidate for anyone else but not for the ones like Mourinho he continued to bench the Ukrainian and the rift continued to get wider and wider and so did Jose’s distance from Abramovich. So much so that once the great general of the Chelsea army is now no more in talking terms with Abramovich. Jose would have been the first guy to put in his papers had Chelsea genuinely lost (which they still haven’t with the season a long way from over) but the way he and his footballing genius has been disgraced is sure to make him walk off feeling more bitter than ever in his life.

The storm is far from over but it would now be interesting to see if Mourinho picks the out-of-form striker for the weekend’s fixture against Liverpool… again any other manager than Mourinho would have done that but having seen the Portuguese man thus far I am sure he’d pick the eleven on form and not under any pressure from anyone. Some of the players have already pledged their support to Jose including skipper John Terry and leading scorer Didier Drogba. Keep it right here guys…. Cos this isn’t surely the end of it…

David Beckham has finally decided to make a move from Real Madrid and I couldn’t have been happy for him for getting out of the rot that he got himself into four years ago by deciding to join the Spanish giants. But then again if he made the one good decision in a long long time I wonder how much of a right decision for him to be actually moving to LA Galaxy, the Major League’s Soccer side. In a deal that is reported to be worth 128 million pounds the former England captain would join the LA side for a period of five years at the end of this season with Real Madrid.

Beckham had been tipped since the begging of this year to leave the Spanish capital but many must have thought that he could actually come back to his home ground rather than make a switch as far as the pacific coast. But then if there is some thing else close to David then it has to be the glitzy and glamorous Hollywood and he now certainly got much closer to the action there.

In a statement issued by the soccer’s one time golden boy said that he had finally taken his decision on staying at Madrid or moving elsewhere. He said that Real asked him to make his decision by this week and he was complying by the request. The statement also thanked all the supporters and staff at Madrid for being with him and supporting him through his time at one of the world’s top notch clubs. Though he’d leave at the end of the season he vowed to give his best until the last day as he has done thus far.

Many detractors of Beckham had almost cynically predicted that Becks would move across the Atlantic because no one in Europe would be willing to cough up huge money that David would cost as a package. On Beckham’s part though he says money played the minimal role in making the switch. The soccer star says that he plans to take American soccer to a whole new level and that’s the challenge that makes me move to LA in what could be last and final move of his career.

For the record the deal includes his salary existing sponsor contracts, merchandising shirt sales and a share in the club profits. Also significant is the fact that David has a soccer academy in LA in which is partnered by entertainment giant AEG and they are also the owners of the club that David plans to join now. David’s expected arrival has almost been seen as a historic moment in US soccer history as for sure this is arguably the biggest move to American soccer in decades.

But one wonders by making a move to the California if David has almost blown away chances of his comeback to the England side. Playing in the continent surely gave him a better standing to come back. Cos being in Europe he’d be much closer to the game is played at arguably at its best and also he would have played with the best mates. Then again as in the past two seasons on the contrary he might have struggled to have found a regular place in the starting level seriously marring any comeback chances whatsoever.

For David’s sake though I hope that he the regular spot in the playing eleven gives him enough time and space to be able to get back to his best. Cos someone like David is a tremendous tool to taking a sport on to a different level in popularity. If David can regain his touch he is sure to make his mark in Hollywood. And just in case (very sadly for a becks fan like me) Hollywood isn’t too far he’s sure wont be jobless…

It’s that time of the season again when the clubs in Europe are again in a frantic chase for players, the gossip columns work over time as to who is going where and who is quoting what price. And just as ever come January there could be a major buy-sell of players all across Europe. Manchester United is still gunning for the perpetual target Own Hargreaves. But this time it looks like the English mid-fielder’s German employees are willing to bite the bullet. Bayern have reportedly agreed to sell the mid-fielder for nothing less than 20 million pounds. And given that Owen is injured for the moment and also club-tied for the Champions League I am not too sure if United would be willing to cough up that sum.

Of course we cannot over look the fact that Owen has been Sir Alex’s long time acquisition plan and that Owen himself has been more than willing to make the switch back to England particularly to Manchester United. Meanwhile, United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson has indicated that he is actually looking for a double acquisition. Apart from Hargreaves, Gareth Bale and Charlton striker Darren Bent have also been linked with a possible move to Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, West Ham with new Icelandic boss could also be other active members in the transfer market but big spending London club Chelsea haven’t made much of a noise thus far. Chelsea has been struggling at the back but hasn’t really made any move to acquire anyone as such. Wigan has already made three signings in the window and Reading has given new contracts to Kevin Doyle and Stephen Hunt. The transfer market is still getting heated up so expect more from the big clubs from other parts of Europe to soon join the melee. A small reminder in the end that Man U have squashed Real Madrid’s plans to buy Christiano Ronaldo by asking for a staggering 70 million ponds… now we had expected Sir Alex to do that didn’t we…
