Brazil vs Chile: Stupendous Win for the Brazilians

The South American football giants, Brazil won the match against Chile by 3-0. The match kicked off in Ellis Park, Johannesburg. The Brazil team scored hat trick to win over their South American rivals. Chile failed to defeat their nemesis, Brazil. The Brazilians dominated the match right from the beginning by scoring two consecutive goals in the last 10 minutes of the first half. From the Brazilian squad, Luis Fabiano and Juan did the honors. This was followed by a third goal scored by Robhino which decided stupendous victory for Dunga’s team.

Brazil defeated Chile earlier in the same Round of 16 level in 1962 and 1998 by scoring 4 goals each time. Argentina Vanquished Mexico by 3-1

The Argentina vs Mexico match was played in Soccer City stadium where the former defeated Mexico by 3-1. They finished with style and elan! Carlos Tevez, the star of the match scored two goals for Argentina along with teammate, Gonzalo Higuain. Right from the beginning, the Argentine squad dominated the Mexicans though Javier Aguirre’s team started on a promising note.

The match kicked-off with Carlos Salcido rattling the crossbar in 18th minute of the game, with a beautiful long shot. The Argentines had another narrow escape when Mexican player, Andres Guardado missed his attempt to score a goal a minute later. Argentina were in a attacking mode with Superstar Lionel Messi missed his attempt which was well judged by Mexican goalie, Oscar Perez.

But Messi helped his teammate, Tevez to score a goal in the 7th minute of the second half. It was a spectacular strike. Afterwards, Higuain made another goal when Ricordo Osorio played a square pass to him. Higuain side footed the ball into the goalpost delivering the second goal of the match. This was his 4th goal in the tournament. The Mexican team realized it soon that their game was over when the magnificent Tevez scored another goal into the top right hand corner of the goalpost in the 52nd minute.

Argentinian team was still on a rampage and continued their attack. Javier Hernandez, Mexican player scored the single goal in the 71st minute for his team which came as a consolation. Now, the Argentina team will meet the Germany team in the Quarter Final.

Germany vs England: England Ousted from World Cup

The mighty German team has done it once again! In the knock-out round or second round of the FIFA 2010 World Cup, Germany defeated England by 4-1. For the records, this match was the most sensual one till date! The English team lacked complete confidence to move further. The emotions were over-riding and the expectations were very high for both the teams.

Last time these two teams faced each other, it was in 2002 World Cup qualifier. There the English team played a stunning match and emerged as the winners by 5-1. Germany is the winner of Group D whereas England is the runner-up of Group C.

It was a nightmare for the English team. The decisive move was Germany’s sharp, intelligent attacking strategy. The match kick-started at the Free State Stadium, Johannesburg. German players Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose scored the first two goals for their team. English player, Matthew Upson scored England’s first goal in the match. England’s captain and superb player, Steven Gerrad made a lovely pass to Upson and he scored a goal. This was England’s first and last goal.

The first game in Group A was played between Mexico vs Uruguay at the Royal Bafokeng stadium, Rustenberg. Uruguay as well as Mexico moved into the next round, Round 16. But the winner of this match was Uruguay who won by 1-0. In the next match, France vs South Africa, Bafana Bafana won clearly by 2-1.

In the match played between Mexico vs Uruguay, the winning goal was scored by the Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez in the 42nd minute of the match. He headed the ball brilliantly in to the goal post. Uruguay still ruled the game in the second half of the match.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is sending the big teams back home while the lesser, relatively new teams are who don’t have a stake in the world of football are smiling broadly. The top football players and the big guns, France has been ousted from the World Cup following a humiliating 2-1 defeat against the host country team, South Africa. Argentina vs Greece: Amazing Win for Argentina

The spectacular match between Argentina and Greece kicked off yesterday night at Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane. The mighty South American team defeated Greece 2-0 in Group B. With their stupendous victory, Argentina have now qualified for the the next round, Round 16. Also, they are leading the 2010 FIFA World Cup with 9 goals, the highest number of goals scored by any team in the event. Argentina’s veteran striker, Martin Palermo and Martin Demichelis scored one goal each in the second half of the match and helped their team win over Greece.

Now, Argentina will play the first match of the next round, Round 16 , against Mexico. But on a sad note, Greece has been eliminated from the World Cup following their loss to the mighty one, Argentina.

Martin Demichelis scored a short-range goal in the 77th minute of the match. His header bounced off of a teammate. But luckily, the ball bounced back towards his feet. And he scored the first goal of the match!

Martin Palmero, Argentina’s striker, scored a second goal just 12 minutes after Demichelis’s successful attempt. Greece’s goalkeeper, Alexandros Tzorvas sucessfully staved off the first shot by Palmero but the rebound was converted by Palmero. Both the defenses played magnificently in the first half of the match. The first attempt to score a goal didn’t happen until the 18th minute. Argentinian player, Sergio Aguero made the effort.

Both the teams played with unbeatable spirit, but it was clearly evident that Greece was getting desperate to score a goal against the football giants, Argentina. On a surprising note, Maradona made several changes in the Argentinian lineup, even after they won against South Korea earlier by 4-1.

One of the changes included Messi to wear the captain’s armband for the first time in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He became the youngest Argentinian player to recieve the captaincy. Afterwards, Messi told that it was a very special moment for him. He felt that he received constant support from his teammates. Also, it was a beautiful experience for him.

Spain vs Honduras: Easy Win for Spain

Spain won the match easily against Honduras by 2-0 in Group H. The match was played in Ellis Park stadium, Johannesburg. The mighty Spain had been in a great form before the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but they started playing on a wrong foot. Now, they are looking for more wins to stay on in the tournament. The only time Honduras ever played against Spain in an international match was in the 1982 World Cup. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Spanish team fought back like a wounded tiger as they had lost their first match to the Swiss team. They were under a huge pressure to play well and they did it perfectly. David Villa, the Spanish superstar striker, scored two goals in either side of the break against the Honduras team. He helped his team to rise up in the points chart next to Chile. Villa could have scored a hat-trick if he had not missed a penalty in the second half of the match.

The second half of the match started very badly for Honduras as Villa doubled the advantage by scoring a second goal in the 6th minute after the restart. Inspite of Kaka’s Red Card, Brazil Wins

When the undisputed champions, Brazil, were on the field to play against the Ivory Coast team, they were just playing to ensure that all their opponents kneel in front of them. Whereas, the Ivory Coast team was desperate to win the match for the sake of remaining in the FIFA World Cup 2010. They played the match in the Soccer City stadium, Johannesburg. Brazil defeated Ivory coast by 3-1 in Group G. But their victory was overshadowed by the sad dismissal of Kaka after the most popular midfielder received a second yellow card for clashing innocently with Kader Keita, Ivory Coast’s player.

In this match, the ultimate superstar was Luis Fabiano who scored 2 goals in the 25th and 50th minutes of the match. But the efforts of Robinho, Fabiano and Kaka dominated the entire game. Elano Blumer, Brazilian player scored the third and final goal for his team in the 62nd minute when none other than, Kaka made a smooth pass. From the initial stages of the match, both the teams tried their level best to keep the ball in possession. But, the ball mostly remained with the Brazilian team after they scored their first goal.

Germany vs Serbia: Germany in Disarray, Serbia Celebrates

Serbia secured their first win since the 1962 FIFA World Cup against the mighty rival, Germany in the quarter finals. They met for the 7th time in the World Cup. Both the teams fought a fierce battle on the grounds of Nelson Mandela Bay stadium, South Africa. Serbia had earlier lost to Ghana 0-1 in the opening match and were keenly waiting for the moment to bounce back. And they did that in grand style! The win was not entirely that decisive but the Serbian team were completely satisfied with the way that they played against Germany.

The most impressive team in the first round of matches was undoubtedly Germany; they even outshone their coach’s expectations. Podolski and Klose woke from the dead. The young German footballers, Badstuber, Marin, Muller and Ozil were very precocious. But once Miroslav Klose was shown the red card by the referee and sent off the field, the German team toppled down in spirits.

Milan Jovanovic, Serbian player, scored the winning goal only one minute after Klose’s sad dismissal. Jovanovic’s goal was not one of the most beautiful shots but it accomplished their win against Germany. The goal happened in the 38th minute of the first half.

Serbain player, Krasic raced down the right flank and took a dangerous shot in the far post. Fellow Serbian player, Zigic took a head shot and passed the ball to Jovanovic, who side-footed the ball into the net. The German defense was in a complete diasarray. There were several opportunities for Germany to score a goal but the Serbian goalkeeper did a wonderful job. He guarded his goalpost like an impenetrable fortress. Congratulations Serbia!

Argentina vs South Korea: Argentina Wins, Reaches the Top 16

On the 7th day of FIFA World Cup 2010, everybody awaited with a bated breath for either the Korean Republic or Argentina to take a gigantic stride towards Round 16. And lo and behold! Argentina did it and did it with complete style and elan! The Argentina vs South Korea match was played at Soccer City stadium, Johannesburg. Both the teams were neck to neck in the points table with 3 points each in Group B.

In the 17th minute of the match, the game started showing fireworks. The mighty Argentinians conquered the South Koreans winning 4-1. The Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain scored the first hat-trick of the FIFA World Cup 2010 and was named the man of the match. His commendable feat helped the Argentina team to overcome a second-half wobble. Also, this secured a comfortable win over South Korea.

It was another freezing day, when Messi took the kick after Angel di maria had been fouled. His kick brushed off the head of Martin Demichelis. The football then struck the right leg of the South Korean player, Park Chu-young just below the knee and skimmed into the goalpost. It was a sad misfortune for the South Korean team.

In the 33rd minute, Messi struck again! He made a pass to M Rodriguez and Higuain headed the ball into the South Korean net. The Korean Republic scored their first goal when Chunhgyong slipped the ball past Romero and scored.

Higuain repeated his magnificent feat by scoring a second goal in the 76th minute of the match. It was simply brilliant. The third and the final goal from Higuain came in the 80th minute. The hat-trick propelled Higuain to become the 3rd Argentine to score a hat-trick in World Cup.

Spain vs Switzerland: Surprise Defeat For Mighty Spain

On the 6th day of FIFA World Cup 2010, Spain vs Switzerland played in the Group H. And the most unbelievable feat was achieved by Switzerland! The Swiss team secured the biggest upset witnessed in the FIFA World Cup so far with their surprise victory over the mighty Spanish team. Spain lost their debut game in the World Cup against Switzerland with a 1-0 loss.

The most unlikely and surprise victory was a complete spellbound. Switzerland have beaten Spain for the first time in 19 matches which sparked public celebrations. The Swiss took to the streets to celebrate the victory. They have not seen a victory in the World Cup since 1990. Now, they have advanced to the second round of the World Cup.

Spain had won all the 10 matches in the Qualifying matches. Also, they won the friendly matches before the World Cup. The soccer match was held in Durban, South Africa. Spain’s tremendous squad strength was shown by the bench: Victor Valdes, Juan Mata, Raul Albiol, Cesc Fabregas and the mighty Fernando Torres all started from the bench for this match. Spain had the ball possession for most of the time and dominated right from the begining but they were unable to finish.

Fernandes Torres attempted a shot to take the lead 1-0 in the 52nd minute of the game. But it was beautifully stopped by Swiss centre-back, Gerard Pique. Torres still made a second attempt for a goal from close range. The act was incredible.

Gelson Fernandes, Swiss midfielder, scored the winning goal in the early second half of the match. The Spaniards fought valiantly to equalize after the Swiss scored, but their attempts were foiled by the Swiss team’s superior defensive strategy.

Spain can still put this embarrassing upset behind and move ahead to surprise their football fans world wide, as they have a technical superiority.
